Position Number F10411 Salary Competitive with Market FLSA Exempt Employment Status Full Time 9 Mos Regular Appointment Type Full-time Tenure Track General Description The Department of Health and Human Sciences at the University of Montevallo invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track, Open-rank position in exercise science beginning Fall 2024.
This is a full-time, tenure-track position.
The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate Exercise and Nutrition Science programs courses.
The successful candidate is expected to participate in academic advising, direct graduate student theses, serve on committees, establish an independent line of research and publish in scholarly journals; be active in professional organizations related to the exercise science discipline; actively recruit undergraduate and graduate students to the program; and provide service to the department, college, university, and community.
Essential Job Duties Teaching responsibilities are split between undergraduate and graduate education.
The requirements are to teach four courses in the fall and four courses in the spring semesters.
There will be opportunities to teach in summer semesters.
Potential teaching opportunities may include, but are not restricted to, Strength and Conditioning, Exercise Physiology, Statistics, Biomechanics, Introduction to Exercise Science, and Exercise Testing.
Additional Duties Education and Experience The position requires a doctoral degree in exercise science, exercise physiology, or a closely related field.
ABD will be considered, provided the doctoral degree is completed by August 2024.
Additional required qualifications include an emerging research agenda, strong communication skills, a substantive commitment, and demonstrated contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Education and Experience Documented experience and excellence in teaching; peer-reviewed publications in human subjects research; evidence of successful advising at the undergraduate level; experience with the accreditation process; experience with program and field experience direction.
