45 Employment Status Part Time 12 Mos Regular General Description The purpose of this position is to provide faculty with course design support in creating effective and engaging learning environments informed by desired learning outcomes.
The role involves consulting with faculty from diverse disciplines to identify course goals and applicable evidence-based instructional strategies.
Essential Job Duties Provide instructional design support to faculty through consultation with individuals and collaborative course design teams.
Prepare student-facing, online support materials for face-to-face, hybrid, and online instruction or lab experiences in consultation and/or collaboration with faculty content experts.
Assist faculty with the conversion of face-to-face courses to hybrid and online formats.
Assist faculty with the selection of instructional strategies and articulation of measurable course and lesson learning outcomes.
Advocate for and research best practices for online teaching and learning.
Review courses during the design and development phases for sound pedagogical and instructional design practices.
Analyze and evaluate new online instructional tools and technologies and recommend appropriate tools and approaches to improve online instructional design and delivery.
Work with the Online Learning Specialist and Assistive Technology Specialist to ensure online educational resources are accessible, updated, and functioning properly.
Collaborate, assist, develop, and participate in facilitating professional development workshops and symposia, particularly those concerning course design, online teaching, and technology-enhanced instruction.
Maintain currency in the field of online learning.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of research-backed best practices in online education and varied learning styles Familiarity with website design, LMS usage and administration, video technology and editing, and other applications of instructional technologies Knowledge of student and course assessment and evaluation Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse university community Education and Experience The educational requirement for this position is: Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Technology or related discipline Education substituted for experience? No This position requires: 1 year of instructional design experience and experience working with diverse faculty Experience substituted for education? No Licenses, Certification or Registrations Certifications, licenses, professional designations, or other qualifications required for this position include: None Certifications, licenses, professional designations, or other qualifications preferred for this position include: Master’s degree Quality Matters (QM) and/or Online Learning Consortium (OLC) certification in online course design and/or delivery Experience providing instructional design support using the Canvas LMS Experience working in a center for teaching and learning Experience providing instructional design across modalities (i.
e.
face-to-face, hybrid and online courses) Experience collaborating with a variety of academic and administrative offices within a college/university.
