Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking an Instructor-Professional Studies & Exp Learning to design courses and develop curriculum, as well as create, implement and report upon evaluation and assessment data for face-to-face and online courses, workshops and seminars.
To serve as lead instructor for courses and workshops in academic writing, mentoring and leadership, seminars.
To manage students enrolled in Office of Professional Studies & Experiential Learning (OPSEL) Certificate Programs.
To conduct needs assessments and collaborate with community partners to develop and deliver free information sessions, workshops and seminars to meet the needs of the campus community.
Specific Job Duties
Design courses and develop curriculum, as well as create, implement, and report upon evaluation and assessment data for face-to-face and online courses, workshops, and seminars for the Office of Professional Studies & Experiential Learning (OPSEL)
Serve as lead instructor for courses and workshops in academic writing, mentoring and leadership, and seminars on college teaching; responsible for selecting, managing, and evaluating activities of adjunct instructors in these areas.
Maintain availability to meet with students in regularly scheduled office hours as well as provide timely and developmental feedback to students
Manage students enrolled in OPSEL Certificate Programs, including the Mentoring & Leadership Certificate Program, LEAD, Research Lab Management, and Research Communications to ensure student academic progress; participate in curriculum design and development of other certificate programs as needed; facilitate management of enrollees in Interdisciplinary Graduate Studies program.
Conduct needs assessments and collaborate with community partners to develop and deliver free information sessions, workshops, and seminars to meet the needs of the campus community; serve as OPSEL educational liaison to various UAB colleges and schools; develop, implement, and report upon evaluation and assessment results related to aforementioned educational interactions
Develop and contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning through active research projects of collaborations that result in efficacious practice, policy or publication
Participate in OPSEL and Graduate School special projects and community outreach activities and represent the Graduate School at campus and community events
Other duties as assigned
Annual Salary: $47,665 - $77,455
Qualifications
Doctorate degree required
Doctorate degree in Higher Education, Leadership Management, or an aligned field preferred
