Position Summary
The Librarian is responsible for the development, implementation and direction of library and learning resources programs and services at all campuses/instructional sites, to meet the scholarly and intellectual needs of students, faculty, and the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assists with the processing, conservation, and preservation of the library’s materials according to archival standards and procedures Assists patrons with the operation of and assistance with the microform readers, equipment, printers, public computers, and other digital devices In collaboration with genealogy staff, organizes and classifies genealogical and historical materials Performs other genealogical/archival duties as assigned, including microfilming, indexing, and other digitization projects Supervises professional and support personnel Establishes and maintains communications among library personnel, faculty, staff and administration Prepares and submits appropriate college reports and documents relative to the library Serves as cataloger/acquisitions librarian as appropriate Plans and develops library instruction programs for students and faculty that meet the current ACRL Standards for Information Literacy Report problems which arise concerning the physical facilities Manage electronic information systems in the library Serves on college committees Attends state and national meetings relating directly to the library and maintains currency in the areas of responsibility Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with other institutions, librarians, and media specialists Reports newsworthy activities relative to the library for appropriate publicity.
Publishes reports, lists, and newsletters to keep faculty and staff informed about new materials, programs, and services Hosts and assists community groups with art shows and other college-related events In order to perform these essential functions, the instructor must be present at work.
Therefore, attendance is an essential function.
Qualifications Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 hours in librarianship, library studies, media studies, library or information sciences or a Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program in librarianship, library studies, media studies, library, or information science.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an academic library at a postsecondary institution required Minimum of 3 years’ experience in supervising a broad area of academic library services (e.

, public services, technical services, library instruction, etc.
