IMPACT Family Counseling is a non-profit agency that provides a variety of programs for the community.
This job posting is for a Lead Teacher at one of IMPACT’S therapeutic day schools, in Vestavia, Alabama.
The day school serves a small group of students from surrounding school districts who are in need of social and behavioral support before returning to their home district.
*Requirements:*
* Master's degree in Special Education preferred, but candidates with a Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 5 years of experience will also be considered.
* Valid Special Education teaching certification in Alabama
* Must pass a criminal background check
* Experience working with students with special needs and challenging behaviors
* Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis and behavior modification interventions
* Team leadership experience
* Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals and support staff
* Experience in full range of severity levels in student behaviors and service delivery models (particularly autism)
* Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast-paced, high-intensive work environment
* Strong organizational and time-management skills
*Responsibilities:*
* Review IEPs of new applicants to determine if the day school is the appropriate placement
* Collaborate with other teachers, therapists, and professionals to provide comprehensive support to students
* Provide instruction and support in various academic and life skills areas
* Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
* Supervises teacher assistant and support staff
* Is able to participate in restraint training and participate in safe restraint of a student, if needed
* Maintain accurate records and data tracking systems
* Performs and models de-escalation techniques when an individual is exhibiting escalated and/or aggressive behavior toward himself/herself or toward staff
* Provides social skills training to students in such areas as anger management, social skills enhancement, conflict resolution, and appropriate peer interactions
* Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
* Uses and maintains confidential information in accordance with state and federal law
* Serves as a team member in determining student accommodations, referral, eligibility, placement, and individual program development

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.
