Talladega College is seeking an Assistant Professor to teach Data Science courses in the Mathematics program.
This position reports to the Department Chair and is slated to begin in fall 2024.
Position Summary Talladega College invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Data Science within the Department of Mathematics/Computer Science.
We are seeking an energetic and dedicated individual with a strong commitment to teaching and research in the field of Data Science.
The successful candidate will join a historic academic institution and contribute to our mission of academic excellence, diversity, and community engagement.
Responsibilities Develop and teach undergraduate courses in Data Science, including data analysis, machine learning, statistical modeling, and data visualization.
Demonstrated ability to conduct independent and student mentored research, with a focus on addressing real-world challenges and engaging students in research projects.
Collaborate with colleagues on research initiatives and promote interdisciplinary collaboration within the department.
Mentor and advise undergraduate students in their academic and research pursuits, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Participate in departmental and college-wide service, including committee work and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
Engage in professional development and remain up-to-date with advancements in the field of Data Science.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Master’s degree in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, or a related field required.
Ph.
D.
preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in Data Science, research and a commitment to making a positive impact in the field.
Effective communication and teaching skills, with a passion for helping students understand and apply data science concepts.
A collaborative and inclusive approach to working with colleagues and students, promoting diversity and equity.
A commitment to serving the academic community through service and outreach activities.
