Position Summary The Counselor/Coach will engage with students using multiple modalities and in ways tailored to their preferences and convenience for development, communication, professional engagement, self awareness, and academic success.
Counselor/Coach designs and delivers programs to support the unique needs of students through one-on-one engagement, workshops, webinars, and other forms of outreach to enhance the student experience, retention, and graduation.
Helps the participants develop productive study habits and initiatives toward their academic and personal goals.
Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule C3 03 ($46,394 - $75,793) based on experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1.
Review participants' academic history and provide academic course selection in partnership with their degree major college-assigned advisor.
2.
Use assessment tools to assist the participants with determining their learning style, while identifying those supportive resources needed to develop and implement a customized academic success plan that will increase their retention and graduation rates in addition to helping them reach their professional and personal goals.
3.
Teach students skills and strategies that apply to help them become confident and independent learners no matter the subject.
4.
Teach students skills that will help them develop habits that promote success academically and beyond.
5.
Help students learn how to engage with challenging material, focus on relevant details, comprehend what they are reading, and recall content afterward.
6.
Monitors program participant’s academic progress each semester to ensure early identification of those experiencing academic difficulty and provide appropriate intervention.
(Meets with student 2-3 times a semester).

Serves as liaison between the student and instructor to facilitate the removal of incompetent grades, withdrawals due to poor academic progress, and needed areas of improvement.
8.
Obtains syllabuses to assist the student in better management and organization of academic and personal responsibilities.

Conducts individual and group counseling/coaching sessions centered on goal setting, soft skills and critical thinking, communication etiquette, etc.

Schedules and travels with participants on college campus/cultural enrichment tours while serving as a liaison between the participants and essential staff that would be instrumental in the Rev.

Transport students to various cultural events via the college van.

Partners with Transfer and Career Services to assist participants with scholarships, transferring, internships, and career opportunities.
In addition to other college supportive services that could ease the burden of childcare or transportation, thereby increasing retention and degree completion.

Assist the Director in designing program activities, newsletters, flyers, promotional items, etc.
, and conducting on-the-ground and virtual orientation sessions, educational student success seminars that address academic success, organizational skills, academic resumes, scholarships, career choices, and personal concerns that may affect the participant's retention and transfer abilities.
13.
Maintain up-to-date documentation of each student meeting/contact including tracking of student academic progress and outcomes using Blumen BOT software.
14.
Provides computer-added assistance in labs and technology workshops to assist participants with using the latest technology to assist them with being more productive and efficient students through the use of their technical devices.
15.
Conducts study sessions that provide feedback in a safe learning environment 16.
Creates, posts, and manages content on the department's Social Media pages.
In addition to providing engagement opportunities for the program participants under this platform.

Oversees and recruits for the department's Student Advisory Committee.
In addition to creating opportunities for its participants to give back through community and college-based volunteering.
This essential function may include working evenings and or weekends.

Supports the mission of the college by participating in college-wide events, training, initiatives, etc.

Establish a rapport and maintain a positive working relationship with administration, faculty, staff, students, and community partners.

Master’s Degree in counseling, education, or a related field from a regionally accredited university 2.
A minimum of two years experience in teaching/tutoring or academic counseling/coaching at the secondary and post-secondary level 3.
Excellent written, verbal, listening, and interpersonal skills 4.
Excellent organizational skills and punctuality 5.
Demonstrated ability to diagnose needs and develop support plans for academically/economically disadvantaged and disabled students 6.
Documented experience in testing, compiling, interpreting, and evaluating data OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS: 1.
Demonstrated sensitivity and experience working with individuals from low-income and disadvantaged educational backgrounds.

Excellent computer-based knowledge and proficiency in various software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe, and print shop; working knowledge of HPs and Macs 3.
Working knowledge of student-friendly virtual learning tools and social sites (Zoom, Facebook, twitter, etc.
) 4.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings, nights, and weekends, when necessary 5.
Excellent written and oral communication skills coupled with the ability to critically think and solve complex problems associated with the work 6.
Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and ability to multi-task 7.
Experience providing excellent customer service 8.
Comprehensive knowledge of institutional policies and procedures 9.
Ability to work independently on complex tasks and prepare accurate reports 10.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with others in a pleasant and effective manner 11.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of office information 12.
Ability to represent the college professionally at all times 13.
Ability to be a self-starter, have follow-through and complete assignments on time 14.
Detailed oriented The Academic Counselor/Coach will be expected to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings, nights, and weekends when necessary.
