*Job Description*
We are seeking an experienced and passionate high school science teacher to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in project-based learning and STEM education to prepare students for future careers in professional or trade-based STEM careers.
The instructor will be pedagogically creative, flexible and able to demonstrate how the fundamentals and principles of science connect to aspects of construction-based trades and other science-based careers.
A collaborative and adaptable spirit is essential to success.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Design and implement project-based learning curriculum in science subjects such as physics, chemistry, biology, and environmental science, which aligns with the workforce development program.
* Integrate STEM education into the curriculum to encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration among students.
* Develop and maintain a positive learning environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and intellectual growth.
* Evaluate and assess student progress and provide feedback to students, parents, and administrators.
* Collaborate with colleagues to create interdisciplinary projects and initiatives that promote student engagement and success.
* Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of emerging trends in science, technology, engineering, and math education.
* Engage with local industries and businesses to understand the demands of the job market and ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of the workforce.
* Create culturally relevant lessons that allow students of all backgrounds to better identify and engage the subject matter.
* Utilize the school adopted curriculum as an academic standard and guide.
*Requirements:*
* Bachelor's degree in a science-related field; a master's degree is preferred.
* A valid teaching certification in science and/or STEM education.
* Proven experience in project-based learning and STEM education.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and external partners.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
* A passion for teaching and the ability to inspire and motivate students to reach their full potential.
* Willingness to adapt to changing demands and priorities in a dynamic work environment.
* Ability to teach, support and communicate with students and families living in an urban environment
