Position Information School/College College of Arts and Sciences Title College of Arts and Sciences - Assistant Professor - Tenure Track - Psychology Assignment Category Full-Time Rank Assistant Professor Tenure Status Tenure Track Payroll Status Faculty 9 Job Description UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA AT BIRMINGHAM (UAB): The UAB Department of Psychology invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the level of Assistant Professor with an anticipated start in August 2024.
The review of candidates will begin immediately, and completed applications submitted by January 31, 2024 will be given full consideration.
The first position is open to all areas of Psychology.
The Department values cross-cutting approaches that build on the strengths of our existing program areas and add to interdisciplinary initiatives at UAB.
The Department has graduate programs in Medical/Clinical Psychology (APA accredited), Behavioral Neuroscience, and Developmental Psychology.
The second position broadly emphasizes health disparities in diverse populations.
The position will build departmental strengths in examining the interplay of biological and social determinants of health and health disparities in diverse populations.
Priority health areas in the Department include but are not exclusive to psychopathology, aging, intervention, addiction, and behavioral medicine.
The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences has excellent research facilities, a long history of extramural research funding, and competitive startup packages.
The Department supports a large undergraduate major in Psychology and co-administers an interdisciplinary Undergraduate Neuroscience Program.
Psychology is a highly collaborative department, having strong ties with UAB’s Heersink School of Medicine, as well as with the Schools of Public Health, Health Professions, Dentistry, among others.
Research and training resources are available from a large number of interdisciplinary Cores and Institutes including the Social Science and Justice Research Initiative, Deep South Resource Center for Minority Aging Research, Comprehensive Neuroscience Center, Advanced Imaging Facility, Civitan International Research Center, Integrative Center for Aging Research, Minority Health & Health Equity Research Center, Center for Addiction and Pain Prevention and Intervention, Center for Clinical and Translational Science, Vision Science Research Center, and the Nutrition and Obesity Research Center, among many others.
