Position Information School/College College of Arts and Sciences Title College of Arts and Sciences-Assistant Professor Tenure Track- Biology Assignment Category Full-Time Rank Assistant Professor Tenure Status Tenure Track Payroll Status Faculty 9 Job Description The Department of Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), within the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions, commencing in Fall 2024.
We encourage candidates from diverse biology disciplines who employ innovative research and teaching approaches to apply.
Our department conducts research on both traditional and nontraditional species, emphasizing fundamental biological inquiries at the molecular, cellular, and organismal levels, with current strengths in healthy aging, food security, and climate change.
Ideal candidates will complement or expand our existing strengths within the Department of Biology and across the UAB campus.
Applicants who apply Computational, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), or other quantitative approaches to fundamental or critical problems in biology are encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications Candidates should have a Ph.
D.
or equivalent terminal degree with an advanced background in biological sciences or a related discipline.
Evidence of productive postdoctoral research experience as demonstrated by an excellent research record with a high level of productivity in peer-reviewed publications.
Preferred Qualifications Significant potential for external funding in the first two years.
Effectiveness in teaching a diverse body of undergraduate and graduate students (M.
S.
and Ph.
D.
) appropriate for the Assistant Professor level online or in person.
