Job Description
The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Alabama, Birmingham is seeking a BC/BE neurosurgeon with expertise in complex spinal surgery to join a group of skilled neurosurgeons in a highly collaborative academic environment.
The newly recruited neurosurgeon will focus on spine but also participate in general neurosurgery call.
The position will include work at the University of Alabama, Birmingham Medical Center, Birmingham Veteran’s Medical Center, and the Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital.
The ideal candidate will have undergone fellowship training in spine and be able to apply minimally invasive spinal surgery techniques and undertake outpatient spine surgery for selected cases.
Desirable candidates may also include cutting-edge technological advancements in spine surgery such as robotic spine surgery in his or her practice.
The position also includes teaching and research responsibilities and requires the ability to work well with neurosurgical and critical care partners.
The position may also involve cranial and trauma neurosurgery call, depending on the candidate’s interest.
