Education Liaison and Teacher

Job Summary The Junior League of Birmingham Sunshine School is a school based program, staffed by certified teachers, and designed to serve children with unique educational needs due to chronic health issues.
The staff facilitates the exchange of information among families, hospital personnel and the patient’s school; advocates for the patient’s needs upon return to the school setting; communicates all information necessary to enhance the patient’s educational experience; and educates all involved concerning the patient’s unique needs and requirements while hospitalized, at home or attending school.
Education Minimum of a Bachelor's degree Master's degree preferred Experience 3 years of classroom experience preferred Additional education will be accepted in lieu of experience Experience working with students with Emotional, Behavioral and Mental Health Needs preferred Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries Must be certified by the state of Alabama with a current teaching certificate and must maintain such during employment.
Certification in Special Education is preferred Location: Children's of Alabama · Child Life and Education Schedule: Full-time, Day shift, 8a-4:30p
