Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Fulltime field engineer at a large civil construction site near Brimingham, AL; Construction oversight of civil contractor; Coordination and communication between the client, contractor, and Geosyntec’s engineering team; Installation, monitoring, and maintenance of geotechnical instrumentation; Completion of geotechnical engineering calculations such as slope stability; Civil and stormwater site design; Development of construction packages (drawings, technical specifications, and narrative plans); Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures; and Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals. Training: This position requires health and safety, first aid, CPR, and other training, as well as medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our employees to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants. Fieldwork: 100% (this position will report to a construction site every day) Overnight travel: Up to 30% Education and Licensure: Bachelor's degree in civil, geotechnical, or construction engineering. (required) Advanced degree in the same as mentioned above. (required) Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment. Skills, Experience and Qualifications: Prior internship or work experience in engineering consultant and/or construction. (preferred) Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, with ability to explain technical material to peers, clients, and informed laypersons. (required) Experience with Microsoft software (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project). (required) Experience with engineering software such as AutoCAD, SlopeW, SLIDE, HydroCAD, etc. (preferred) Heath & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required) Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
