General Description
The Department of English and World Languages at the University of Montevallo, a public liberal arts university near Birmingham, Alabama, invites applications for a nine-month, full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Philosophy to begin August 2024.
Candidates should have a specialty in history of philosophy, early modern philosophy, and applied ethics, with additional competencies in religion and aesthetics.
Essential Job Duties
Primary responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load (12 credit hours each Fall and Spring term) in general education and Philosophy and Religion minor courses, and upper-level courses for non-majors and minors as needed; participating in departmental and university-wide committee service; and conducting and publishing ongoing academic research.
Other duties related to this position may also be assigned.
Candidates will ideally also demonstrate ability to teach interdisciplinary courses that support the work of the Department of English and World Languages, as well as other University programs with interdisciplinary requirements.
