PROGRAM DIRECTOR II
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Program Director II.
The Program Director II for Community Outreach and Engagement will report to the Community Engagement Core Lead and overall Program Director for Forge AHEAD Center.
The Forge AHEAD Center, a National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) supported initiative, is a regional comprehensive research center that focuses on the prevention, treatment, and management of cardiometabolic diseases, including obesity, diabetes, and hypertension (HTN), associated with health disparities in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
The Center is a partnership between Pennington Biomedical Research Center, the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Tuskegee University, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
The Program Director II for the Community Engagement Core is responsible for overall community education and awareness for chronic disease prevention and management for the Community Engagement Core of the Center.
They will also assist the Core Faculty Lead to deliver community-based education, outreach, and research dissemination as assigned.
They will work closely with members of the Community Advisory Board (CAB) to provide input on center-related activities, including scientific projects and pilot applications/projects.
The ability to engage community partners and communicate with faculty and staff at partnering institutions is vital.
The position will benefit from previous leadership in community engagement, communications, strong public speaking and writing skills, events management, and the ability to recruit, manage, and cultivate volunteer Community Stakeholders.
Travel required to community events, partner institutions, and community organizations across Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist the Core Faculty Lead to develop and implement vision and activities for Forge AHEAD Center community engagement.
Assist with the delivery of community-based education, outreach, and research dissemination as assigned.
Ability to identify, recruit, and maintain participation in the Community Advisory Board (CAB).
Ability to engage community partners and communicate with Center faculty & staff is vital.
Provide community outreach, awareness, and education for targeted chronic conditions
Conduct day-to-day activities of project(s), including recruitment and maintenance of community partners.
Recruit participants for town hall meetings, key informant interviews, discussion groups, community awareness surveys, focus groups, and other data collection activities.
Facilitate local meetings with community members, and other multi-sector non-academic partners.
Secure project meeting space for all designated activities, adhere to budget for refreshments;
Prepare and submit designated reports including status reports, summaries, and program planning reports in a timely manner.
Maintain IRB and HIPPA compliance and other related programmatic activities at the local level.
Carries out established program objectives and directives
Determines the best approach to accomplish assignments
May supervise support staff
Communicates, using a variety of media, with internal and external constituencies
May be responsible for adherence to program budget and/or other fiscal duties
May assist with grant and contract preparation and submission
May handle data management
Moderate travel is required for this position

Annual Range: $60,835.
00-$98,855.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements, Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience required.
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
