The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Family and Community Medicine is seeking to hire faculty physicians that will practice sports medicine and primary care.
Our department is committed to continuous improvement in patient care, education, research, and service.
We are actively searching for an individual who can contribute to our mission of high-quality patient care, excellence in education, and the progression of science through scholarship.
Our current sports medicine team provides medical oversight for UAB Athletes (Division I), the USFL, Birmingham Legion FC Professional Soccer team, Birmingham Bulls Professional Hockey, Birmingham Vulcans Rugby, USA Wheelchair Rugby, and more.
Aside from direct patient care and team coverage, individuals will participate in the following: Teaching within our Sports and Exercise Medicine Fellowship, family medicine residency programs, and medical student curriculum to advance our goals of creating more primary care physicians, and those trained in sports medicine.
Developing new Exercise is Medicine programs with our YMCA, UAB Campus Recreation, Lakeshore Foundation (US Olympic and Paralympic Center), and UAB Nutrition Obesity Research Center (NORC) Creating robust programming in Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) and regenerative medicine Conducting research within an institution that exceeded $840 million in grant funding in FY21, and includes potential collaborators such as Precision Medicine, the Center for Exercise Medicine, Preventive Medicine, the Lakeshore Foundation, and Nutrition Obesity Research Center (NORC) Contributing to our expertise in Precision Medicine, Value-Based Care, Leadership in Medicine, Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), Digital Health, and Lifestyle & Exercise Medicine Consideration will be given to board-certified MDs or DOs for part-time and/or full-time positions.
Positions are twelve-month, open rank, non-tenure earning faculty positions.
Rank and salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
