Position Summary The Instructional Coordinator of Adult Education assists the Director in data analysis, professional development, and instructional management within the College’s Adult Education Program.
A particular emphasis placed on data analysis, professional development design, computer based instructional models, and the appropriate instructional responses based upon outcomes.
Analyze data to suggest and implement improvements.
Develops and conducts staff development activities under the supervision of the Director.
Warrants the instructional program is delivered in a manner that serves the students best and reflects well on the institution, with the goal of moving more students toward a high school credential, career pathway, and higher education or the workplace.
Assists the Director with program marketing, program inventory and administrative.
Salary Schedule: Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule E1 01 (55,038-$72,188) based on experience This position is on a non-tenure track and is ineligible for non-probationary status due to finite funding and duration as provided in Alabama Code 16-24C-4(3)(b).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Serve as Instructional Coordinator for all Adult Education sites.
Develops and conducts quarterly staff development activities under the supervision of the Director.
Conducts computer training for teachers on Adult Education instructional or data entry software.
Ensures that each instructor achieves the required annual 12 hours of professional development.
Provides orientation and training to new instructors; set up new classrooms; train on Adult Education software.
Input and retains constant review of the Adult Education program data as collected by the AAESAP system or any future data management system.
Conducts and instructs classes as needed.
Meets regularly with clerical and data entry personnel to assure instructor compliance with reporting requirements.
Assists the Director to assure the instructional program is based upon sound assessment, teaching, learning, support services, and continual program improvement.
Remains up to date on curriculum, technology, and software changes.
Makes recommendations to the Director based upon class site observations and changes to assist with planning and purchases.
Provides opportunities for teachers to have input in their own classroom improvements and provides guidance to facilitate those improvements if necessary Enters, understands, and analyzes all relevant data, including, but not limited to the data on AAESAP tables Makes instructional recommendations to teachers based on the data.
Meets with underperforming teacher to identify problem areas and determine ways to increase class performance.
Conduct monthly desktop reviews using the Alabama Adult Education System for Accountability (AAESAP) Meets with top-performing teachers to identify best practices, and shares those ideas with other instructors.
Quarterly assessment of adult students' satisfaction with the program, and uses the results in the planning process to continually improve the program.
Coordinates Orientation for new students both on and off campus.
Serve as liaison for students participating with the Department of Human Resources SNAP/TANF program.
Assists Director with marketing in the service area, developing program publications/print materials for the Adult Education Program.
Maintains student records in accordance with FERPA.
Participates in recruitment and community services events during day, nights, evenings or weekends.
Assists with GED graduation.
Serves on college committees as appointed and attend meetings as required.
Performs other necessary and related duties as determined by the College.
Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree from and accredited institution required; Master’s preferred A Minimum of 3 years educational administrative experience.
Good oral and written communications skills.
Ability to travel to classroom sites; must possess current and valid driver’s license Ability to work non-standard hours including day, evening, nights and weekends Must possess good technology/computer skills and be able to use various software programs associated with the work OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent organizational skills Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships Conflict resolution skills Regular and consistent attendance Ability to coordinate, create and maintain reports and records Ability to work a flexible schedule including day, evenings, nights and weekends Ability to attend recruitment and community events day, evenings, nights and weekends Adheres to policies and responds to administrative requests professionally and timely Maintains a neat, appropriate and professional appearance at all times Ability to interpret and analyze data PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift, carry or move up to 25lbs Ability to physically participate and engage students in activities.
