Job Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine’s Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology, Section of Melanoma and Sarcoma Surgery is seeking an exceptional academic Surgical Oncologist to join the Section.
Our busy and growing melanoma/sarcoma surgery practice is supported by a multidisciplinary team encompassing all aspects of treatment.
Our section sees over 750 new patients with skin and soft tissue cancers and performs a similar number of operations annually.
We have a robust collaborative integrated clinical and research practice and are actively engaged in research and outreach efforts with the UAB O’Neal Cancer Center, the only NCI-designated cancer center in the state.

The rank of appointment is open and will be determined consonant with prior professional and academic accomplishments.
Practice draws from all corners of Alabama as well as Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida Our section includes two other surgical oncologists with 6 surgeons in our division Integrated with the UAB General Surgery Residency Training Program, the position will involve teaching residents and medical students Opportunities are available to continue or develop clinical, basic, and/or translational research programs and to lead clinical trials through the UAB O’Neal Cancer Center Applicants must be board-certified in General Surgery, Surgical Oncology fellowship-trained, and eligible for medical licensure in Alabama.
