LOCATION IN ORGANIZATION:
The position is located in the BHC Offices and reports directly to the Patient Services Manager.
NATURE OF DUTIES:
Performs a variety of medical office duties ranging from receptionist, appointment scheduling, handling medical records, handling payments, and correspondence.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Greet and check-in patients in a friendly, professional manner.
Perform appropriate updates to patient information.
Assist Billing Department with collecting co-pays and patient balances.
Provide billing department with clear copy of insurance cards and current demographic information.
Check medical charts to ensure that insurance verifications are current and available for other personnel.
Maintain HIPAA privacy and security and provide the BHC Notice of Privacy Practices to new patients or to any who request it.
Other: Performs other related duties as assigned and serves in whatever other capacity deemed necessary for successful completion of the mission and goals of Birmingham Heart Clinic and in concordance with its patient philosophy.
This position is located at our Trussville office but may help at times in Gardendale, Pell City or Oneonta offices.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
Knowledge of patient scheduling techniques/insurance & billing preferred.
High school diploma preferred.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to learn EHR systems
