General Summary
As the first point of contact for patients arriving at UCAs clinics, the Medical Front Desk Clerk will greet and assist patients with check-in at kiosks, collection of necessary documents, inputting information into EMR system, preparing file for office visit, and notifying physician or nurse that patient is ready to be taken back.
Upon conclusion of service, schedules follow-up appointments and communicates instructions for additional services.
Minimum Qualifications
Must show the ability to have excellent interpersonal skills and communication to interact with all walks of life, internal and external to UCA, from all educational or cultural backgrounds.
Must show the ability to work independently or within a team in a fast-paced environment.
Must show proficiency in use of a variety of office equipment including a PC, Windows, MSOffice, EMR system, multi-line telephone, copier, facsimile machine, etc.
Must show the ability to maintain confidentiality, including strict adherence to HIPAA and UCA Guidelines.
Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
May have previous experience in healthcare or in a physician clinic setting.
May demonstrate a good working knowledge of medical terminology.
Licensure, Certification, Registration Requirements
None.
Supervisory Requirements
This position will not supervise any other staff members.

Essential Functions
Greet patient and family members or caregiver at check in and answer questions regarding UCAs check in process.
Provide support to complete check in process including assisting patients with kiosks, collection of documents relevant to patient visit, insurance cards, co-pay or deductibles.
Acts as a patient escort when needed, assisting patient to ingress or egress facility, or to UCA exam room.
Prepare patient file for visit, ensuring that confidentiality is maintained.
Maintains contact with secretary, nurse, and/or physician that patient has arrived and is ready for services.
Performs check out function through EMR system.
Schedule patient follow-up appointments according to physician schedules.
Provide patient with instructions for imaging and/or other services and appointments.
Responsible for the collection, organization, and disbursement of superbills.
Attends organization or departmental meetings as required.
Other duties as assigned.
