Reports To: Internal Audit Data Analyst Job Summary Design and execute data mining, analysis, and continuous monitoring across different applications, databases, and platforms. Coordinate with the internal audit team to identify opportunities to enhance the audit process. Develop training program to expand internal audit team effectiveness. Build strong relationship with information technology teams. Successfully manage multiple projects with precise and timely results. Stay current with emerging technologies and audit practices. Required Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in relevant field from an accredited university. Minimum 4 years of experience with a recommended combination of data analytics experience including data analysis audit tools such as ACL. Prefer working knowledge of business processes, internal controls with internal or external audit experience strongly preferred. Knowledge of statistical sampling techniques and exposure to business intelligence tools preferred. Special Knowledge and Key Competencies Preferred Understand IA's role as it relates to corporate governance and the key relationships with the Audit Committee, Senior Management and Operating Management. Excellent communicator with ability to express complex ideas effectively in simple language. Computer skills with emphasis in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio with the ability to learn new menu-driven software packages quickly. Strong data analysis and critical thinking skills. Effective project management and time management skills and ability to work under pressure to meet reasonable deadlines. Adaptability and ability to deal with change. Provide excellent client service through professionalism and building relationships. Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision. Team player and get along well with others. Highly developed analytical, forensic accounting and auditing skills necessary to conduct complex and sensitive data mining/continuous monitoring. Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to exercise extraordinary tact, diplomacy, discretions, professionalism and judgment in decision making and higher-level communications. Ability to establish harmonious and effective working relationships with campus administrators and others. Working knowledge of the programs, structure, policies and operating procedures of the University of Alabama System. Ability to work independently with limited direction and guidance and travel to other campus locations. Duties And Responsibilities Understand the business and keep abreast of trends and new techniques in data mining and analysis. Leverage technology and adopt industry best practices, when appropriate. Perform all Internal Audit activities in accordance with the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, as promulgated by The Institute of Internal Auditors. Respond to requests for special projects or reviews from senior management, CACO or the Audit Committee. Maintain competency and network with peers to ensure leading internal auditing strategies, techniques, and practices are considered for adoption. Abide by the Institute of Internal Auditors Code of Ethics. Demonstrate reliable, consistent attendance. Develop training to communicate best practices to administrators and internal audit staff. Develop a data mining and continuous monitoring approach including the following: Plan theory, scope and methodology, Manage data mining and continuous monitoring activities and report results, Prepare work papers and reports according to internal and IIA standards, Communicate results of data mining/continuous monitoring to management orally and via written reports, as appropriate. Perform data risk assessments to aid in development of annual audit plan. Oversee the performance and execution of the data mining/continuous monitoring-related projects on annual audit plan.
